Glorious Game and the Skyline Garden Cookbook, both designed and published by Face Publications, have been named as best in the UK in five categories at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. They will now represent the UK at the Best in the World titles at the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards event in Paris in June 2020.

Glorious Game won three national awards:

  • Single Subject Cookbook

  • Meat Cookbook

  • Charity Cookbook

Skyline Garden Cookbook won two awards:

  • Corporate Cookbook

  • Food Security Cookbook

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Édouard Cointreau, president of the Paris Cookbook Fair and of the World Association of Food TV Producers. Every year, the awards honour the best food and wine books, printed or digital, as well as food television. Books from 225 countries participate, making this the world’s largest international cookbook competition.

It really doesn’t get any better than the Gourmand Awards – we’re delighted to top five UK categories this year, and to be going forward to compete for the title of best in the world in each of those categories

Glorious Game

Glorious Game was the brainchild of chef Ben Tish and entrepreneur David Ross and features recipes from 101 leading chefs including Jason Atherton, Frances Atkins, Andrew Fairlie, Monica Galetti, Chris & Jeff Galvin, Simon Gueller, Angela Hartnett, Diana Henry, Simon Hopkinson, Tom Kerridge, Tom Kitchin, Giorgio Locatelli, James Mackenzie, Andrew Pern and Michael Wignall.

All proceeds from Glorious Game directly benefit The Moorland Communities Trust and The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, both of which exist to protect and promote the rural way of life that enables game to thrive.

Game is an incredibly healthy source of food and much leaner than farmed meats, due to the natural diets of the animals and their active lifestyles. There’s no intensive farming and as game is mostly locally sourced, its carbon footprint is relatively small, with very few miles from nature to plate

Skyline Garden Cookbook

The Skyline Garden Cookbook is written by Coutts bank executive chef Peter Fiori, and is the first ever cookbook from the prestigious bank. It features recipes using ingredients grown in the rooftop garden at its headquarters on the Strand in London.

Proceeds from the Skyline Garden Cookbook will be donated to The Felix Project, which helps feed local communities in London by rescuing surplus food from the food industry and delivering it to over 350 frontline charities and schools.

We wanted to create a book that pushed the boundaries of what you can do in central London on rooftops. We’ve proved we can create this amazing urban rooftop garden and I want to help other people do the same thing
— Peter Fiori, Coutts executive chef
